ICT at ISD
As part of our commitment to provide children with the necessary skills for ICT use in the 21st century, we acknowledge that the students need opportunities to develop these skills. The use of ICT in the context of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) is central to this. At International School Delft (ISD) these skills are primarily used to collect research, organize and present data. Students are encouraged to share their findings with peers and relevant communities. Through the use of ICT, students apply thinking skills in order to create and present meaningful products. This facilitates the development of communication, social awareness and research skills, as well as being a tool for the presentation of findings both in and out of the classroom.
In the context of an inquiry-based curriculum, we integrate ICT (which is defined as using computers, cameras, video cameras, viewers and printers etc.) as tools within the broad curriculum. We use a range of devices in the classrooms. The main software programmes used at ISD include Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and ProWise. Examples of other age dependent web-based resources include Glogster, Tikatok, kidblog, mymaths, storyboardthat and storypark. These are used to share and present findings from their inquiry and to link this to the wider global context.
